I had written poems at difficult times, and during my separation and divorce. It was my way of 'getting out' what I was feeling. I shared one or two on a couple of occasions at our church. Each time I shared I was encouraged by people to 'get them in print'. I was far too 'raw' to have such personal writing out there, also at that point my self-confidence and belief was non-existent. Over time the pain has lessened and with the encouragement of family and friends, convincing me to 'go for it'. In May 2006 I was able to share at a Ladies breakfast my story, some of my poems and some of my songs. Following the breakfast there were so many who encouraged me to get my poems in print. I was still not convinced but God showed me through these women that I should share what I have so I sought a publisher (no mean feat!). Very few 'do poetry', so I discovered. After many 'rejections', declaring to God, 'this is the last one I’m trying', I emailed Covenanters Press. The rest, as they say, is history!
The book was 'put together' in the late summer of 2006. Initially it was just to be a collection of the poems I had written. After meeting with Covenanters Press, it was decided to 'add a little flesh' to the book. It is in no way a detailed autobiography of the events but simply a summary of that particular time of my life.
It is my hope that you would be encouraged by the story and poems in that no matter what you face, you would be uplifted and carried when life knocks you down. If God can do it for me, He will do it for you too!
